My passion is combining practical work and research. Over the years, I have been delighted to be involved in the multifaceted debate about early childhood education not only through RALLA but also as a childhood and cultural researcher, the pedagogical director of an early childhood education group, and as an entrepreneur and CEO of the art daycare centers I founded.
The idea of establishing my own daycare center came from the observation that children had disappeared from the cityscape and that the city center’s service offerings were mainly aimed at adults. We decided to reclaim urban space for childhood and creativity.
The passion to make children’s voices heard is still there. At RALLA, we offer research-based tools to support daily educational and training work. Children’s self-assessment and children’s customer satisfaction surveys are of interest to both domestic and international actors in the changing field of education. I also work at RALLA, inspired by childhood and creativity!
In my doctoral research It turned out that a diary used for systematic observation of children’s daily lives motivates adults to pay attention to children and everyday interaction situations with children. It turned out that the diary also has several application possibilities as a pedagogical tool for operational management and evaluation. Therefore, I also set out to develop a digital mobile-based visual survey method for studying children’s own experiences as part of a research group funded by the Academy of Finland.
In the RALLA team, I work as a creative director and an expert in children’s customer experiences and early childhood education.
